How Does Acupuncture Work

According to Chinese philosophy, our physical health relies on the balanced flow of Qi, Blockages in the flow of Qi can manifest as different issues and symptoms. A lot of things will affect the Qi flow in our body.  Such as diet, environment and excise. Over thousands of years, Chinese physicians have discovered a system of cyclic flowing in the body along specific pathways called meridians. Each meridian is associated with a particular system and organ. To diagnose the imbalance, practitioners look for patterns through pulse and tongue and by asking questions about the patient’s experience. By needling the points on meridians, it can influence the Qi flows to restore the body’s balance.

Chinese medicine practitioners spend a lot of time with their patients, listening to their histories and looking at the constitutions, environmental, and lifestyle factors that can influence long-term health issues. They look for a dynamic balance among the internal and external factors in the patient body, mind and spirit. In this way, Chinese medicine helps you to take control of your health.

In 2003 the World Health Organization (WHO), the health branch of the United Nations published a report about clinical trials researching the effectiveness of acupuncture. More than one hundred conditions were classified into four categories concerning existing evidence.
